Home Treatments and Remedies For Your Hair Problems

Sep 28, 2017

Most of us struggle with some type of hair problem at one time or another. Luckily there are some home remedies that can help with a myriad of common hair problems. Here are some easy at-home remedies to try.

Coconut Oil Hair Mask

You may have seen a lot online touting the benefits of coconut oil. Turns out this oil makes an excellent deep conditioner for your hair. To use warm a few tablespoons of coconut oil and spread throughout your hair. Let the oil soak into hair for 20-30 minutes, or you can leave it on longer if your hair is particularly coarse or dry. Shampoo out, and you will be amazed at the sheen of your hair. Over time this can also prevent and eliminate split ends.

Vitamin E & Shampoo

Adding a few drops of Vitamin E oil or crushing a few capsules into your shampoo when you wash your hair. This will add much-needed moisture and superb shine. This is such a simple step, and it also prevents breakage from having hair that is too dry.

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Treatment

Using apple cider vinegar will help remove dandruff and keep your scalp exfoliated and healthy. Apple cider vinegar works by changing the pH of your scalp which prevents yeasts from growing. Mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle and thoroughly coat your hair and scalp. Wrap a towel around your head and relax for 20 minutes. When done wash as usual and do this twice a week.

Aloe Vera Gel

Rub aloe vera gel onto your scalp before shampooing for relief of dry scalp and the associated itchiness. A bottle of aloe vera gel is really inexpensive and goes a long way.

Tea Tree Oil

A few drops of tea tree oil added to whatever amount of shampoo you normally use works well to fight dandruff and keep your scalp healthy. Be careful to not overdo it though as essential oils are very concentrated.

Shikakai

This shrub that is native to Asia can be bought as a powder and added to coconut oil and massaged into the scalp to promote hair growth and prevent further thinning. This shrub is also effective at preventing dandruff. This is truly something that should be looked at for those suffering from several different hair and scalp issues.

Egg Whites & Olive Oil

A few egg whites mixed with a tablespoon or two of good quality olive oil and massaged into the scalp will increase the blood supply to the scalp which will stimulate hair growth.

Extra Protein

Healthy hair and scalps occur when there is a good level of protein in the diet of the individual. Proteins come from meat, dairy products, eggs, nuts, and beans. Adding some lean protein to your diet will help your hair grow and stay shiny.

Almond Avocado Banana Hair Mask

This nourishing mask will moisturize, add shine, and make hair soft all while preventing split ends from even starting. To make this mask simply mash up one avocado, a banana, and 1/2 tbsp to 1 tbsp almond oil. Mix together well and apply to hair for 20-40 minutes depending on the level of conditioning you want.
